PRESIDENT: Stefan Currie-RobertsStefan is a West Coaster by birth, but he does his best to hide the snobby elitism which comes from growing up in the best province in Canada. Prior to coming to law school, Stefan completed a BA in political science and an MA in public administration. In time, the excitement of doing policy development work proved too much for him, and he decided to go to law school, where he has been proud to have been a part of the great community at Dal. Stefan is honoured to have the title of nerd-in-chief at Weldon and when he’s not busy with student government or serving on the school’s admission committee, he is most likely to be found on the squash court, settling Catan, or hovering around any reception with free food. He hopes everyone has a great year and encourages students to get in touch with him if they have any concerns. VP EXECUTIVE: Jamie-Lynn KraftJamie-Lynn Kraft is in her third and final year at Weldon. She did her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, in Economics and Political Studies. Her decision to come to Dal was influenced, in no small part, by her desire to live in Halifax which, she contests, is one of the best cities in Canada. Jamie has been involved with the LSS since her second year, when she served as Secre- tary to the Board. Her favourite part of being a Law Student is always having someone to sympathize with her first-world-problems. If she is in a bad mood, you can cheer her up by showing her videos of cats. VP FINANCE: Chris KeliherChristopher is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and completed his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance at Dalhousie University. In addition to sitting on the Ex- ecutive of the LSS, he regularly participates in other activities within the law school. Some of these activities include playing Intramural and Domus hockey, sitting on the Studies Committee, and helping to establish the Pro Bono Corporate Law Clinic. As VP Finance, Christopher is responsible for the financial management of the LSS. This includes setting the budget for the society, responding to requests for society funding, and helping to facilitate financial audits. If you have any questions about these or any other issues, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Christopher can be contacted at vpfinance@dallss.com. VP EXTERNAL: Kyle DeYoungKyle is a native Nova Scotian, and grew up just outside of Halifax. He is super excited to meet the incoming first year students, and to have the opportunity to pursue world domination through his role as VP External of the LSS. Kyle’s got a passion for community and community development, and wants to support and build on the spirit and high level of student involvement at Weldon outside of the school. Kyle’s been involved in a number of organizations on and off campus, including OUTlaw, Dal Law Orientation Week, the Halifax Community Health Board, and the Out of the Cold Shelter. Welcome to all of the new first year students (it’ll be okay, really!) and welcome back to the returning students (phew, we made it!) 2012-13 is going to be an awesome year! Feel free to contact the VP External email if you have any questions, concerns, or random thoughts. VP ACADEMIC: Caitlin UrquhartCaitlin is certainly not afraid to get her hands dirty! An avid rider of horses, bikes and boards, she spends much of her time out-of-doors. She is an amateur organic gardener and lover of adventures, thus the dirty fingernails! You can find her on any given Saturday at a farmers market or, during exams, de-stress baking. Her dedication healthy balanced living is a driving factor in her LSS pursuits. Promoting a well-rounded, active lifestyle in law school and the real world are important to strong academics. She is always available to help students with their academic needs, or just to help out! VP COMMUNICATIONS: Matt EdmondsMatt studied political science at St. Francis Xavier University before returning home to Halifax to join the Weldon community. In his first and second year, he served as an executive member of the Domus Legis society and sat on the Student Finance Committee. Matt’s involvement with the LSS began last year when he employed his knowledge of the Series of Tubes to revamp the society’s web presence. As VP Communications, Matt’s goal is to ensure relevant news and information are easily accessible to all students. This year he will be employing some mad nerd skills to create new tools that streamline communication within Weldon. |
