Executive Profiles 2010-11
NOTE THAT THESE PROFILES ARE OF LAST YEAR'S EXECUTIVE (2010-11). UPDATE COMING SOON.
All the LSS executives are proud to be part of a team dedicated to the promotion of law student interests at Weldon. We try our best to maintain an open door and hope that you will come and see us during our office hours with any questions or comments you may have. Also, for general concerns, please contact Jade Buchanan or Gillian Carter. And, please consider coming to a meeting of the LSS Board--students are always encouraged to come to raise issues or weigh in on what the LSS is doing. Looking forward to the year ahead.
Jade Buchanan - President

Saskatoon native Jade Buchanan is a manly man with a girl's name. When he's not studying law, Jade is training to vanquish his mortal enemy, Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, at battle in Kitchen Stadium.
As President, Jade organizes all of the LSS's outstanding volunteers. He is also responsible for ensuring the LSS performs its representative role. Jade strongly believes that the President should foster collegial dialogue between students, faculty, and administrators. He is committed to making sure the LSS is connected and responsive to students.
Jade Buchanan can be contacted at jade.buchanan@dal.ca.
Christopher Buchanan – Vice President, Executive

Chris Buchanan hails from Yellowknife - the land of the midnight sun, but he has fallen in love with Halifax - the land of sea and beer. When he's not in class, you can find Chris procrastinating by biking, traveling, and checking out live music.
As VP Executive, Chris is responsible for keeping the LSS running smoothly. He ensures continuity from year-to-year by recording what the LSS does and making sure we do what we're supposed to. Chris is also responsible for the locker distribution and any other internal task that needs to get done. Should the President become unable to fulfill his duties, Chris will take over the reigns of the LSS and guide us to safety. He'd love to hear from you, so please feel free to drop by the office during his office hours.
Christopher Buchanan can be contacted at c.buchanan@dal.ca.
Katherine Ng - Vice President, Finance

Katherine, a McMaster University grad, enjoys eating, dining and food.
Katherine, in her position of VP Finance, will be responsible for all financial aspects of the LSS. This includes creating the budget, performing financial audits, and managing funding requests from societies and individuals. She will also chair Budget Committee. If you have questions about individual conference funding, society funding, or LSS Finances, please contact Katherine.
Katherine Ng can be contacted at katherine.ng@dal.ca.
Lucy Howard – Vice President, Academic

Lucy is a born and raised Albertan who loves sports and is involved in fitness. This is her second year out on the east coast and she is loving it.
As VP Academic, Lucy’s primary goal will be to keep students informed about academic issues that concern Weldon. She will also be responsible for the rolling evaluations of professors each semester, and sit on the Academic committee and Faculty Council. Lucy is the lady to talk to if you have any academic issues or concerns.
Lucy Howard can be contacted at luciennce@dal.ca.
Dustin Griffin – Vice President, External

Dustin Griffin was born and raised in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley and completed his undergraduate degree in Philosophy/Political Science/Economics at the University of British Columbia. Dustin is keen on agricultural issues, and is also an avid movie goer.
As VP External, Dustin is your representative to the Dalhousie Student Union, where campus wide issues can be brought to the fore. Dustin also represents Dalhousie law students at Nova Scotia Bar Association meetings.
Dustin Griffin can be contacted at dustin.griffin@dal.ca.
Gillian Carter – Vice President, Communications

Gill Carter is originally from Oakville, Ontario but has been in Halifax since her undergrad in 2003. She is an avid badminton and squash player and always up for a game.
As VP Communications, Gill is responsible for spearheading the annual Legal Who, liaising with society chairs, and ensuring that students are informed of events and activities going on in and around Weldon. If you have any general student concerns or questions, feel free to contact Gill by email or during her office hours.
Gillian Carter can be contacted at gwcarter@dal.ca.
