The LSS distributes five awards yearly:

Society of the Year
​
The Society of the Year is selected in accordance with Regulation 5 of the LSS Regulations. It is awarded to the society or committee that made the greatest contribution to the Schulich School of Law in that year. All societies registered with the LSS are eligible to apply. Societies will be invited to submit a one-page summary of their year's work in the spring, and the winning society will be chosen by the Dean. The winning society is awarded with $300 for their society fund.

The 2021-2022 Society of the Year is Dalhousie Law Hour.

Thomas Burchell Memorial Good Citizenship Prize in Law
​
The Thomas Burchell Memorial Good Citizenship Prize in Law is awarded to the graduating student who is the most supportive of fellow students during the course of their education at the Schulich School of Law. This is awarded at Spring Convocation. The winner is selected in accordance with Regulation 5 of the LSS Regulations.
Nominations from graduating students will open in March in the form of a one-page nomination sheet (students may not nominate themselves), and the winner will be selected by the LSS Executive. More information on this prize and other Schulich School of Law discretionary prizes can be found here.

Hannah and Harold Barnett Excellence in Teaching Award
​
The Hannah and Harold Barnett Excellence in Teaching Award is awarded to a 1L professor. Each section collectively puts forward a nomination for a professor, and a winner is chosen by the Teaching Awards committee, chaired by the LSS Vice President Academic.
​
The 2021-2022 winner of this award is Professor Richard Devlin.
​
Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award
​
The Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award is awarded to any professor. Nominations are solicited from all students, and a winner is chosen by the Teaching Awards committee, chaired by the LSS Vice President Academic.
​
The 2021-2022 winner of this award is Professor Constance MacIntosh.
​
Graduating Class Appreciation Award
​
The Graduating Class Appreciation Award accepts nominations from 3L students of Schulich School of Law Faculty and Staff members that they want to show their appreciation for before departing. The winner is awarded a Class Ring at the annual Grad Gala in May.
